  • Is it time to see your local schools dentist?

When is the last time you have been to the schools dentist?  Has it been a few weeks, months, or even a few years?  Hopefully you said that it has been a few weeks or months, because if it has been a few years than you are in for a rough time the next time you visit your schools dentist.  It is so important for you to keep current with your dental visits and stay on track with your teeth, mouth, and gums.  Making sure you see your schools dentist at least once every six months is so important for many reasons.  First off, your teeth, mouth, and gums need to be cleaned by a dental professional at least twice a year.  Some people think they do not need to go to their schools dentist because they brush their teeth two or three times a day and floss after each meal.  That is a great way to ensure healthy teeth but at the same time, the only way you can make sure each tooth is healthy is seeing your dental hygienist for a cleaning.  The cleanings are usually very quick and to the point.  They do not hurt at all and when you walk out of the office your teeth, mouth, and gums will feel amazing.  The dental hygienist and schools dentist will also make sure that you have no problems in your mouth.  Problems they could find in your mouth are cavities, rotted teeth, forms of diseases or even cancers, etc.  Do not be afraid because if you take care of your teeth every day you most likely have a clean, healthy mouth.

If you are one of those people that brush and floss daily and think that the schools dentist is only a place to visit when you have a toothache you are wrong.  If you haven’t been to the dentist in a long time and you think you are in the clear you are wrong.  Sometimes it takes a long time for you to feel a cavity but that does not mean it is not there.  Some cavities, if not taken care of right away, grow and grow and could end up rotting your tooth all together.  The cavity could get so large that it could affect the roots of a tooth and also cause you to need a root canal.  All of this information is not meant to scare you by any means; it is meant to get you to the dentist twice a year to make sure this does not happen to you.  Another reason people avoid the dentist is because they say it takes too long and it takes up a good portion of the day.  That is not true at all.  Most dental cleanings last no longer than 45 minutes and you are in and out.  If you can not take the time and get out of work, you could look for a dentist in your area that has longer hours during the week or even weekend hours.  This could make your life a lot easier and you wouldn’t have to worry about taking time off of work.

Summary: Get to your local schools dentist for a thorough cleaning.
