    Are you considering what career path to take? If you’re a high school freshman, or even if you’re in grade school, it’s never too early to start thinking about what you want to do with your life.  It can certainly be a daunting task, and there are of course more pressing concerns, like what to do this weekend, or what to wear to the school dance.  But it’s imperative that young people take stock of their interests in life, so that they can set reasonable goals for themselves career wise.  It would do a youngster well to focus his or her extracurricular activities on subjects and topics that are interesting to him or her.  In this ways, young people can start to get a grasp on what fields are most appealing to them.  Any adult will tell you that the key to a happy life is to pick a career path that you like.  IF you choose a career for the wrong reasons, like money or status, you will end up being miserable. The only way to ensure a happy life is to do what you love.  If you follow your passions, you really can’t go wrong.
    Should your particular passions lead you to become a dentist, you are in luck, as dentistry is a highly lucrative field that is both challenging and rewarding.  But be forewarned, you should only consider becoming a dentist if your heart is in it.  If you truly enjoy learning about all aspects of the dental field, then, and only then, should you consider becoming a dentist.  The first step in your new career path towards becoming a dentist is to pick a major in college that will prepare you for your future.  You can major in pre-med, or in business administration.  This is acceptable because when you start your dental practice, you are also starting a small business.  SO if you want to strike out on your own and show the world what you’re made of, it’s imperative to the ins and outs of running a business.  This includes administrative work, leases, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other associated areas of study that all small business owners must be familiar with.  Should you decide to become a dentist, you must be prepared for this aspect of the business.  It is certainly possible to join an established practice, but most dental school graduates choose to go it alone.  Therefore, in addition to an interest in the art of dentistry, would be dentists have to be familiar with business practices.  This comes with the territory of being a dentist.  There’s no avoiding it, so it’s best just to bit the bullet and enroll in business administration classes now, if at all possible.  You can even enroll in a summer program at a local community college to get an early start to becoming a dentist.  So evaluate your career goals and expectations now, so if you decide to become a dentist, you’ll know what to expect and when to expect it.
