  • Don’t put off your next bristol dentist visit

If you do not know the importance of dental hygiene than you should really pay attention.  Dental hygiene affects not only your teeth, mouth, and gums, but it also affects the wellness of your entire body.  Not many people know that you can get forms of cancer in your mouth.  The best way to help prevent this is taking care of your teeth, mouth, and gums and seeing your local bristol dentist at least twice a year for your entire life.  The bristol dentist is more than a place where you get your teeth cleaned and looked at.  They take x-rays, monitor cavity-prone areas, look out for gum disease and gingivitis, etc.  Seeing your bristol dentist at least once every six months is important because they can help you take care of your teeth, mouth, and gums.  Every time you put food in your mouth and chew you start to have plaque building up on your teeth and gums.  The best way to get rid of this plaque, as everyone knows, is to brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss after every single meal you eat.  In a perfect world this would happen every day and no one would get a cavity or a rotten tooth.  However, we all know how busy times are and some people either skip out on brushing their teeth in the morning or at night or they skip flossing all together.  Flossing is something that you need to do daily to help you prevent cavities and tooth decay.  Flossing allows you to get into the little nooks and crannies in between your teeth and get out food or plaque that could be stuck there.  A lot of people skip this step because it takes a little extra time and care but if you spend the extra three minutes and make sure to floss after each meal or at least once a day, your next bristol dentist visit may have less cavities and who would not want a bristol dentist visit like that?

The best way to stay current with your dentist visits is to make your semi-annual appointment every time you are at the dentist.  For example, if you have an appointment in January, before you leave the office you should schedule your next dental cleaning appointment six months later, which would bring you to July.  Make a point to schedule your next appointment as you leave the office, that way you will be able to get the day and time you want.  They will give you a card with the date and time and you can keep that to remind you when your next appointment is.  Many dentist offices’ also call you a few days before your appointment to remind you that your appointment is coming up.  From there all you have to do is make sure you show up to the appointment on time, sit back in the chair and let the dental hygienist do his or her work.  Then your dentist will come in, check your teeth, mouth, and gums, and you will be on your way with a clean, fresh mouth.

Summary: Stay current with your bristol dentist visits and you will be on your way to a cleaner, healthier mouth.
